Here's a step by step guide to making new your new ox4.org site yours.
- Log into your site.
- Change your password.
- Set user registration.
- Edit your site info & upload logos.
- Delete the sample pages.
- Edit the home page.
1. Log into your site
Instructions will have been emailed to you.
2. Change your password
When we set up your account we made up a password for you. Change this to something you'll remember by ...
- Go to the black navigation bar at the top of the page and select User Management > Users > List.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see your account name. Click on Edit in the Operations columns.
- Enter your new password and confirm it in the Account Information form.
TIP: You might also want to change the user name.
- Scroll to the bottom on the page and click save.
3. Set user registration
The different options are:
- Anybody can register on you site.
- Anybody can request to register on your site, but they won't be registered until you approve them (default).
- Nobody can request to register on your site - only you can register people.
Here's how to change the settings:
- Go to the black navigation bar at the top of the page and select User Management > User Settings.
- Select the option you want in from public registrations.
- Scroll to the bottom on the page and click save.
4. Edit your site info & upload logos.
- Go to the black navigation bar at the top of the page and select Site Configuration > Site Information.
- Fill in as many items in th eform as you want to.
- Scroll to the bottom on the page and click save.
- Go to the black navigation bar at the top of the page and select Themes > Configure > Global Settings.
- Check the boxes in the Toggle Display form for items that you want to appear on your site.
Note: Not all themes contain all of these elements - if you've picked a theme that doen't include an element that element will not appear.
- Upload you site logo in the Logo Image Settings form.
- Upload your favicon in the Shortcut Icon Settings form.
- Scroll to the bottom on the page and click save.
5. Delete the sample pages
When we set up your site, it came with a couple of sample pages. You'll probably want to delete them. There's also a taxonomy term that you will want to delete.
- Go to the black navigation bar at the top of the page and select Content Management > Content.
- Check the boxes next to 'Blah, no life', and 'A news story'.
- In the Update Options form (above the content list) select Delete and click update.
- Confirm that you want to delete the pages.
- Go to the black navigation bar at the top of the page and select Content Management > Taxonomy > List.
- Click the Edit Vocabulary link in the table.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click delete.
- Confirm the deletion.
6. Edit the home page
- Go to the black navigation bar at the top of the page and select Content Management > Content.
- Click the Edit link on the page called 'ox4: hosting from the grassroots'.
- Add your own information into the edit page.
- When you've finished, click save at the bottom of the page.
Your new site is now set up and ready for you to build other pages, blogs, etc.
